KAS is a certified Woman-owned business enterprise in Vermont and New York State. KAS was established in 2004 to provide environmental and industrial hygiene consulting services. In 2009 KAS acquired ESPC civil and environmental engineering which primarily focuses on design, permitting, and construction management of public and private infrastructure projects. As a result of this union, KAS now offers comprehensive civil and structural engineering design services for a wide variety of civil and environmental applications, as well as industrial hygiene consulting including health and safety training and consulting, environmental consulting and asbestos testing and consulting.
Our philosophy is rooted in innovation and flexibility. Because of our staff’s highly diverse and extensive experience, we are able to offer the right services for a wide variety projects and clients.
With offices on either side of Lake Champlain, KAS is strategically positioned to serve a broad geographical area including all of Northern New York and New England.
In addition to being a creative design team, KAS staff members have strong working relationships with several federal, state, and local agencies and departments. This experience and the relationships developed with these agencies streamlines the permitting process for projects. KAS prides itself on its ability to work with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders in providing creative, innovative, practical, and cost effective solutions.

Vermont Office

Amy has 20+ years’ experience in business management and environmental work. She is a licensed Asbestos Site Inspector in Vermont and New York. Amy holds a BS in Business Management from Champlain College and is a member of the board of directors for the Vermont Women Business Owners Network. When not working, Amy enjoys spending time with her three children and going to NASCAR events.

Sam was originally with KAS from November 2009 to July 2012 and returned in August 2014 after a stint in the western US. Sam manages petroleum contaminated sites, conducts UST closures and assessments, completes hydrogeological investigations and the design, implementation, and operation of remediation systems. As a technical driller he coordinates and oversees all drilling activities associated with the operation and maintenance of KAS’ 54 LT Geoprobe© drill rig. He earned his BA in Environmental Science from Middlebury College in 2008. When not at the office, Sam enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and hiking with his wife and two children.

Monica graduated from the University of Vermont in 2012 with a B.S in environmental science and started working at KAS in 2015. Monica manages petroleum contaminated sites, UST closure assessments, drilling oversight, indoor air quality investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and environmental reviews. When not working Monica enjoys camping, hiking, skiing, photography, and crocheting.

Rebecca holds a BS in Geology and has 15+ years of experience in environmental project management and geological field investigations. She is a NY state licensed professional geologist and is the lead technical expert at KAS for PFAS and chlorinated solvent investigations/cleanups. She joined KAS in 2014 after relocating to the Vermont area from Boston, MA. Her primary focus areas and fields of expertise include: Brownfields investigations & cleanups, Phase I and Phase II ESAs, remedial system design and installation, hydrogeological surveys, geophysical surveys, UST closure assessments, construction oversight, hazardous materials management and landfill permitting/monitoring. When not at work Rebecca is either lounging in a hammock, balancing precariously on skis or frolicking through the forest.

Haley joined KAS’ Williston office in 2019 as a Staff Scientist. She earned a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Vermont in 2017 where she studied freshwater algae communities in Chittenden County. Haley continued algal research working for a year at Iowa State University’s Limnology Lab. At KAS, Haley conducts fieldwork, performs geological drilling oversight, manages contaminated sites, writes technical reports, and assists with environmental assessments and data validation. Outside of work, Haley enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, trivia, and hockey.
New York Office

Aaron has 20 years of environmental consulting experience in due diligence, asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality assessments and soil/groundwater investigations. He is a certified Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner in New York State and Vermont and licensed Mold Inspector in New York. When not working, Aaron enjoys spending time with his kids (Quinn and Cassidy) and wife (Maria) hiking, skiing and playing in the Adirondacks.

Anthony joined KAS in 2017 and has experience in geotechnical and environmental engineering including performing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments, earthwork oversight, asbestos sampling, oversight in the installation of and sampling of monitoring wells, UST removals, and characterization/remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. Anthony earned his BS (2011) and MS (2013) from Clarkson University. Outside of work, Anthony enjoys hiking, camping, and participating in several sports leagues.

Zach joined KAS in 2018 as an Environmental Technician. He holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Plattsburgh State University. He is a New York State certified Asbestos Air Technician/Project Monitor, OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Trained, and has previous experience studying fisheries and stream restoration projects. When not at work, Zach enjoys fishing, hunting, riding his ATV, snowmobiling and other activities with friends and family.
