Environmental Assessments and Transactional Due Diligence
Representative Services include:
- Client-specific methodologies including environmental risk assessment, preliminary transaction screen assessments and preliminary environmental site screening;
- ASTM Transaction Screening Methodology (ASTM E1528);
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessments per ASTM E 1527 to identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs); and,
- KAS’ Phase II Environmental Site Assessment services (ASTM E 1903) range from geophysical evaluations to air, soil and water testing. The Phase II Environmental Site Assessment investigates RECs, identifies if significant contamination is present and its consequences.
Brownfields Redevelopment
KAS has been actively engaged in Brownfields redevelopment site work since its inception. We have experience providing diverse consulting services on all levels of Brownfields Redevelopment properties including Brownfields properties which have gone through assessment and cleanup and have received liability release.
KAS has a robust Quality Assurance/Quality Control program complying with state and federal requirements which includes EPA Generic and Site Specific Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPP), detailed technical protocols and a dedicated Quality Assurance Officer.
Brownfields services offered include:

Contaminated Site Management and Remediation
The contaminated sites management work includes:
- underground storage tank assessments
- subsurface contaminant site investigations
- dry cleaning sites investigations
- groundwater and drinking water monitoring; and
- soil gas testing
KAS also designs, installs, and operates remediation systems for petroleum contaminated sites. KAS has experience with many different types of remedial technologies including:
- soil vapor extraction and air sparging
- high vacuum extraction
- dual phase extraction
- interception trench and groundwater treatment
- in-situ oxygen curtain (iSOC)
- in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO)
- automated free product recovery
